Snow vs Rain yet again

We received 1.33 inches of rain in the last day and a half along with a couple inches of snow. A lot of the ice/snow on the course washed away so there are peaks of grass but there is plenty of ice and puddles left.

The high yesterday was 51 or 52 and the low last night 24. Needless to say a lot of crappy roads and driveways this morning. High today 30. yesterday we put the spinner topdresser back on the workman in preparation of a ton of ice after this latest rain event. Tuesday we had a load of sand delivered and we put a tarp over it to keep it dry. So this morning Will and I went out early and sanded every one's driveway and a few really bad roads. We called in the town and Kevin drove with them to tackle the rest of the bad spots.

Snow vs Rain current 2/2/11

It is 11:00 am and we are in the middle of the second storm on this one two punch hitting the northeast. Yesterday we had a few inches of snow then some rain and spent the day tossing sand around some roads that are all ice. Woke up this morning to all rain and heavy at times. At the time of this post it is 41 degrees and we have had .87 inches of rain since yesterday with a heavy blast coming down as I type. Soil temps are 28.9 degrees so you can well imagine the issues where the precip at the surface will freeze. With temps predicted below freezing tonight we will be under our skating rink conditions once again.

Clubhouse painting

We were asked to do a little painting inside the clubhouse this winter if we had the time. Kevin decided it would be healthier to paint the basement over the ball washers or tee markers at this time so work has begun. Tee mrks and ball washers require sanding and prepping that is dusty and dirty and not the most fun from a respiratory standpoint.

We have had a week of snow/rain so far with more predicted. The weekend temps were above freezing and actually nice days but all the ice melted on the surface then re-froze smooth as glass. We have some roads that are solid ice. Walking around is very dangerous. Tomorrow's temps are supposed to be in the 40's and raining so maybe some of the ice will melt?
